1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data Stored Only on Your Device (No Account Required)

You can use Lakun without creating an account. When you do, all of your data — including your todos, subtasks, deadlines, descriptions, priorities, and categories — is stored locally on your device only, in encrypted form. This data is never transmitted to us or any third party.

If you never sign in, we never see, collect, or have access to anything you create in the App.

1.2 Data Collected When You Create an Account

If you choose to create an account to enable cloud sync, we collect and store:

• Email address — used as your login identifier and for account-related communication (e.g., password reset).
• Password — stored only as a securely hashed value; we cannot see or recover your actual password.
• Your todo content — when signed in, your todos, subtasks, deadlines, descriptions, priorities, and categories are synced to and stored on our cloud servers in encrypted form so you can access your data across your devices.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

• Authenticate your login and secure your account.
• Sync and back up your todo data across your devices when you are signed in.
• Respond to your support requests.

We do not:

• Sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone.
• Use your todo content for advertising or analytics profiling.
• Send you marketing emails.

3. Local Data Storage and Sign-Out Behavior

• When you are signed out, all data remains stored locally on your device in encrypted form.
• When you sign out of your account, the app data associated with your account is cleared from your device. A copy may still exist on our cloud servers until you request deletion (see Section 6).
• You may request deletion of your account and all synced cloud data at any time.

4. Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously:

• Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
• Encryption at rest: Your todo data is encrypted both on your device and on our cloud servers.
• Access controls: Your data in the cloud is protected by strict database-level access controls so that only you can access your own data.
• Passwords: Passwords are stored only as securely hashed values and can never be viewed or recovered by us.

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Your Rights and Data Deletion

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You may:

• Delete data on your device: Uninstalling the App or signing out removes your local data.
• Delete your account and cloud data: Contact us at james@mateai.dev and we will permanently delete your account and all synced data from our servers.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

6. Data Retention

• Local data: Retained on your device until you delete it, sign out, or uninstall the App.
• Cloud data: Retained for as long as your account is active. When you request account deletion, your data is permanently removed from our servers.

7. Children's Privacy

Lakun is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our services evolve. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy within the App or on https://lakun.mateai.dev/privacy-policy and updating the "Last Updated" date above.
